| Dear Parents
I am pleased to report that Maths Week was a resounding success! We need to say a very big ‘thank you’ to all of the adults who organised a very exciting range of activities and especially to Mrs Chamberlain who co-ordinated Maths Week. It was lovely to see so many children throughout the school working with each other so enthusiastically. I know that many new number skills were acquired and lots of children now realise how important rules, fair play, negotiating skills and turn taking are!
The toilets for Yellow class have been refurbished and are looking very smart! The children chose starfish motifs which are bright and cheerful. Pop your head in and have a look – the children love the design. Later this year we will be refitting Red class toilets with another design chosen by the children.
We are pleased to welcome two students from the University of Winchester to our school. Miss Batchelor is working in Blue class and Miss Carre is working in Yellow class this term.
Pupil Reports
Unfortunately we have been unable to send reports out on the planned date this half term because we have been waiting for the report writing programme we use, to be up graded – isn’t technology wonderful!
I am pleased to report that the new disc arrived this morning and teachers will now be able to start their reports. What a lovely half term they will have!
Reports will be sent out on Wednesday 7th March.
Parent discussions evenings will be held on:
Monday 19th March
Tuesday 20th March
Tesco Sports Vouchers
Thank you everyone who donated their Tesco vouchers to our school. We have been able to purchase more large footballs and sets of bibs to help us identify each other when playing team games.
The Big Hush
We have collected a fantastic £370 so far this term for cancer research – thank you. Please could all outstanding donations be collected and returned to school by Friday 16th February.
Reading Buddies
Several of our ‘reading buddies’ have secured jobs, which is lovely for them, but not so good for us! We would like to replace them as soon as possible.
If you or a relative could spare some time to help us in this very rewarding task, please speak to Mrs Monument, Mrs Hamer or Mrs Shearsmith as soon as possible.
Family Photographs
A new date for your diary - We have now booked the family photograph session for Wednesday 28th February from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m.
If you are interested in booking an appointment please speak to Mrs Shearsmith.
New Governor
We welcome Mrs Diane Steer to our Governing Body this term. She has been appointed from the Local Authority to replace Rev Stephne van der Toorn. Diane is an active member of Fawley church and runs Quest within our school each week.
Sainsbury Active Kids
Please could you collect vouchers for us. The campaign runs from 7th February to 29th May 2007
Tesco Computers for Schools
Please could you collect vouchers for us. The campaign runs from 5th March to 13th May 2007.
World Book Day
Attached is your free £1 book voucher to celebrate World Book Day and encourage your child to read. These vouchers can be used between 26th February and 25th March.
Bad Language
We are trying very hard to stop the children using bad language within school. As you know, most children will hear and often use swear words, but once they understand that it is not acceptable, they soon find other words to express themselves. Unfortunately we have become aware of some adults using bad language outside of our classrooms, before and after school.
Please help us by modelling acceptable language so that none of our pupils are exposed to swearing.

Yours sincerely,
Gill Hamer |
