Newsletter - Easter 2007
Dear Parents

TThis term seems to have flown by and I am pleased to see signs of spring are finally appearing.

Although this has been another short half term, we have organised many creative and enriching activities, including Book Week, class assemblies, multi skills lunchtime club, Red Nose Day, School Council Treasure Hunt and finally Blue Class Exhibition and an Easter Egg Hunt.

The School Council have been working hard to improve our school environment. The children are concerned that parents are not very visible when they wait to collect children at the end of the day. Please can you stand outside of the class where your child can see you clearly.

Easter Egg Hunt
Parents are invited to come to school on Friday 30th March at 2 p.m. to help their children with their Easter Egg Hunt.  The Governors are organising a Cake sale and would appreciate donations of cakes.  Refreshments will also be on sale.

School Meals
From April 1st 2007 the cost of a school meal will be:
£1.80 per day
£9.00 per week
The menu for the summer term is attached. Please note that packed lunches can also be ordered at the same price as a school meal.

Reports
It is important for us to receive regular feedback from parents and carers in order to measure our success as a school. If you have been pleased with your child’s school report, please could you spare a couple of minutes to write us a positive comment and return it to me.
We are always trying to improve our practice, so if you have any suggestions on how we could improve the system we would also like to hear from you.

Big Hush
Thank you everyone for your fantastic support. We raised £718.02 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Red Nose Day
We raised £148.00 for Comic Relief, thank you!

Multi Skills
Children from Year One and Year Two have been enjoying the multi skills lunchtime club which has been organised through the School Sports Partnership.  This club will run again next term. Children in our reception class  will also have an opportunity to join in after the summer half term. A letter explaining this will follow next term.

Race for Life – 25th June 2007
The staff have decided to raise money for Breast Cancer by entering the Race for Life this year – hopefully Lorraine MacElevey will be fit enough to join us in this venture.  If you would like to sponsor us please speak to any member of staff.

Homework
We do not issue homework but do ask that you support your children’s learning by reading regularly with them and by helping them to learn to read and write the key words teachers send home in book bags.

Thank you to all of the parents who spend a couple of minutes regularly supporting their child’s reading progress – it really does make a difference!

There is a lot of truth in the saying ‘Use it or lose it’

Bikes
We have noticed that several bikes have been left overnight, unlocked in the bike rack. We cannot take responsibility for the safety of bikes and although Mrs Boswell, our caretaker usually brings them into the school building if she notices them, it is not part of her job.
Please ensure that:

  • Padlocks are used to secure bikes
  • Bikes are collected at the end of each day

Parking
Parking has become an issue again!

  • Please park considerately outside of school.
  • Please do not park in the school car park unless you are working within school.
  • Please DO NOT use the school car park to turn your cars! This has become an issue this term as several parents are driving into the car park at speed and turning.
  • Please do not block the school entrance; emergency vehicles may need access at any time.

I hope that everyone enjoys the Easter Break with the children

Easter Bunny - Happy Easter Everyone!

Yours sincerely,

Gill Hamer
