| Children, staff and governors were having a
party on Friday 8th September 2006 to celebrate the 25th anniversary
of Manor Infant school.
Among the many guests was Michelle Barnes,
(nee’ Andrewartha),
who with her brother, Jason, were the first pupils to attend
the school 25 years ago. On Michelle’s first day at school
the register held 3 pupils – now, the popular school
in Holbury thrives with children in each class.
Former teachers and indeed, former head
teacher, Gill Bevan were also there on the school’s big day, to help in the
cutting of the huge birthday cake, which went down a
treat with the children, after they had ceremoniously blew
out the candles, before sitting down to enjoy their individual
slice!
Many happy memories of the school were recounted, along with
discussion about all the developments that the present children
enjoy, such as the copse and the field beyond the playground.
The present head teacher, Gill Hamer, warmly welcomed everyone
to the celebration, and suggested that everyone should come
and celebrate when the school was 50 years old! |
